Costs & access — frequently asked questions

No. You can book directly with any of our practitioners — no GP referral is required to see a physiotherapist, podiatrist, chiropractor or vestibular physiotherapist at Simba Health. A referral may still be useful if you're claiming under a specific care plan.

An initial physiotherapy consultation at Simba Health is $99 and a standard follow-up is $89. The same $99 initial fee applies across our core allied health services, so you know what you'll pay before you arrive.

Most private health funds with 'extras' cover let you claim a rebate on physiotherapy, chiropractic and podiatry — the amount depends on your level of cover. Medicare may contribute if you have a Chronic Disease Management (CDM/EPC) plan from your GP. Bring your fund card and we'll provide an itemised receipt.

DEXA body composition scans start from $89 and don't require a referral. You'll receive a detailed breakdown of muscle, fat and bone density to track your progress over time.

Ear wax removal by microsuction is generally not bulk-billed under Medicare, as it's performed by an audiologist rather than a GP. We keep our pricing transparent — ask our Macquarie Park audiology team for the current fee when you book.

Microsuction uses gentle suction under direct vision to remove ear wax — no water is flushed into the ear, which makes it safer and more comfortable than traditional syringing, especially for sensitive or previously perforated ears.

It depends on the cause. For BPPV — the most common cause of vertigo — many people feel significant relief after just one or two sessions using repositioning manoeuvres. Other vestibular conditions may need a short course of tailored balance rehabilitation.
