Unilateral Vestibular Dysfunction

Damage or reduced function of the balance organ in one inner ear, causing dizziness, vertigo and balance difficulties.

(02) 9188 0544Initial assessment: $210

Unilateral vestibular dysfunction occurs when the balance organ (vestibular system) in one inner ear is damaged or not functioning properly. The primary role of the vestibular system is to monitor the position and motion of your head. Through specific reflexes, it stabilises your vision and maintains body balance, allowing for clear sight and the prevention of falls. When one side is impaired, the brain receives unequal signals from each ear, leading to dizziness, vertigo and balance difficulties.
